Cabbage Manchurian
CABBAGE MANCHURIAN
Ingredients :
1. Cabbage – grated – 2cups
2. Onion – finely chopped – 1/2cup
3. Capsicum – finely chopped – 3tbs
4. Ginger – finely chopped – 1tsp
5. Garlic – finely chopped – 1tsp
6. Green Chilli – finely chopped - 1pcs
7. Ginger-Garlic Paste – 1tsp
8. Spring Onion – finely chopped – 2tbs
9. Tomato Sauce – 2tbs
10. Soya Sauce – 2tbs
11. White Vinegar – 1tsp
12. Red chilli Powder – 1tsp
13. Black Pepper Powder – 1/2tsp
14. All Purpose Flour – 3tbs
15. Corn Flour – 3tbs
16. Salt to taste
17. Oil – for deep frying the pakodas/fritters and 2tbs to make the gravy (any veg oil)
Preparations :
At first, you need to make the cabbage pakodas/fritters. So to make the pakodas, squeeze the excess water from the grated cabbage and keep it on a separate bowl.
Now add all purpose flour, 2tbs of corn flour, some salt, 1/2tsp of red chilli powder, ginger-garlic paste and mix all these things with the grated cabbage gently. Take small portion of the mixture and start making balls with it. Roll these balls into some flour and keep it aside.
Cooking Steps :
To make the Pakodas/ Fritters :
In a deep fry pan, add generous amount of oil for deep frying the cabbage pakodas and let it be heated up. Add the balls/pakodas/fritters into the hot oil and fry over a medium flame until become light golden brown colour. Then take out the pakodas on a paper towel/tissue and keep aside.
To make the Gravy :
In a frying pan add 2tbs of oil. When oil become hot, add finely chopped ginger-garlic, saute a bit (for about 30sec). Add onion and capsicum and fry for 1-2mins over medium flame. Then add green chilli, 1tbs of spring onion and stir. Also add tomato sauce, soya sauce, vinegar, 1/2tsp of red chilli powder, black pepper powder and salt (must check the amount of salt, as pakodas have some salt in it and soya sauce is little salty too). Mix all the ingredients well. On a separate bowl, mix 1tbs of corn flour and 4-5tbs of water. Add this into the pan, it will make the gravy thick. Now add the cabbage pakodas/fritters into the gravy, nicely coat with the gravy. And finally, add remaining spring onions before serving.
Serving suggestion :
This is a really yummy veg recipe and it goes well with any kind of fried rice or noodles as well. So try it and enjoy a delicious homemade dish. :)
